Hi to all! New member here. Been reading and finally need to post.
Anyone know the specs on a stock cam? Wanting to compare lift and duration before buying Speedstar cams.
Not yet. Will make some hopefully soon and update. Gettingready to do winter mods and needing to compare stock cam to speedstar. I found orient and pr which i feel would be too radical for my driving habits. I think I would be happy with the s*. Lift and duration pretty much midrange. Price is good also. I really ahve enjoyed the info that is avsailable on this sight.
Love the info. available here. Found the cams on the site sponser just like I read and WOW!! I bought speedstar cams for 165.71 to my door! MONEY SAVED...Also found the orient and PR specks on here to compare and I feel the S* cam will be all I need. When you're 53 your need for speed isn't as bad as it once was. BUT man I still need th POWER>>>>> Thanks to all and I'm still watching and reading.....
OE has changed their cam profiles. The specs. which were posted on the site some time ago probably are not accurate now.Their current cams are different than previous cams.Their previous cams were ground to their specs by Webcam& had less lift & more duration than @ present.I know this because I have both the orig.OE cams & their current ones.(It's a long story why")
Dont know about stock but I had a SS cam it melted down hard metal failure both aft lifters and cam faces. Went with the Patrick Racing Cam. Here is the skinny as has been reported here before. Approximate numbers are as follows SS Lift 360; Orient Express 380; Patrick Racing 400 PR duration 40 degreeish you do the math. Most lift most air equals most HP. Hope that helps. PR more expensive but hey when you twist the wrist its a no brainer. For PR you can e-mail REZA at Cycle Image say hi for me. Peace
