Got a supertrapp exhaust ordered. Its a slipon I'm gonna fit on my stock headers.I'm hoping with the tunability of the supertrapp and my powercommander,to achieve horsepower in the mid 80s.Am I in the ball park or just dreaming.

Hope you have better luck than I did.

Had a 24 inch stainless steel megaphone super trapp from a streetrod I adapted to the Warrior stock head pipe. 2" inlet 4" outlet. The tunability was fun to work but it was to quiet & sounded farty. Then the stainless went yellow & I pulled it off.

DId I mention that it was not a bike muffler?

Thanks for the feedback Churchkey,I'm hoping for some horse powergains and the sound and looks are minor to me with this mod.You are one of the more knowledgable riders on this forum,do you think the stock header pipes are too restrictive to produce the gains I'm hoping for.
Thanks for the heads-up Oly,I'll try to pm him.

IMHO horse power #s are just bragging rights, The Warrior does not turn enough rpm to worry much about horse power. WIth the short rpm range the motor has keeping the torque numbers high will have a more positive effect on performance than horse power will.

Large head pipes & 2X2 pipes kill torque & add horsepower. They normally need to be baffled or restricted down to restore some low end performance (torque).

IF you check my gallery PIC you will see stock head pipes & its not because I can't afford a new system. My muffler is designed with a replaceable inner tailpipe so I can easily change the back pressure in the system. With my current set up I find that a 1&13/16 ID tailpipe is spot on.

Just in case you have not noticed the new Speed Star pipes are now 2X1.

You will find when working with the super trapp that you will notice a difference in torque with the addition or subtraction of just one diffuser disc once you get it close. I ended up removing all the fiberglass, boring a 1&1/2 hole in the end cap & using 5 or 6 discs.

You are on the right track. Having a tunable exhaust is a valuable tuning tool. Keep up the good work & let us know how it works out for you.

Just cause I do it don't mean its right, its just what works for me.

Church, I agree one hundred percent. I just took off my custom slip on, with the reducer I made, and put on some samsons street sweepers. Let me tell you I thought I left the parking brake on (I did adjust the brake pedal so it is not in contact) The bike feels WAY slower. I just put um on for looks and when I go "riding" I will put my other set up back.

the supertrapp creates a fine "punch" if you tune it right (don't use too much discs!). i took a can with 2 inch inlet because that fits better (even not perfect) to the heatshield of the header-pipes. i have the adapter for a 2 inch can laying around here. you could have it for free if you pay the shipping (have to tell you that i live in germany :-/) because i don't need it anymore.
to fix the can, create a bracket that goes from the lower exhaust-stockbracket to the can. i have a chromed one laying around here and could send you with the adapter. so let me know if you're interested

well, the supertrapp was a chromed 3 inch can with custom end-cap. i switched to bubs chambermaids now. the supertrapp had much more power. about 10-15 mph more at top speed but the bubs look better. right now i tried several silencers for the bubs but i think i gonna go with a custom-build muffler made by the german general-importer for vance&hines. he created special mufflers with a stage-system that don't let you lose too much power (if any) with dragpipes

let me give you a hint: screw the baffle very tight into the can or fix it with two bolts! i fixed mine with one M6-steel-bolt and the bolt just has been broken in half by the beast. seems as if there's a lot of pressure in the can.
by the way: the chrome-can started blueing when i took it off. i recommend going with a 4inch-aluminium-can or 4inch ssteel-can if you dont mind about the gold-color
