A buddy of mine just sold his Warrior today and will be on his FZ1 from now on. Another buddy of mine bought a CBR1000 and is trying to sell his Warrior, another buddy of mine bought an st1100, and one other friend of mine has a gxxr1000. Anyway, as you all know, I LOVE my Warrior, but I
can't have 2 bikes. I've had the Warrior for almost 3 years now and have ridden it almost 20,000 miles. I'm kinda in the mood
for something on the sport side lately. I've thought about what I want and was thinking an SV1000, TL1000, or RC51 because their Vtwins, but I'm kinda liking the bmwK1200s at the moment even though it's not a Vtwin. I definitely want to be different so I am not interested in a Busa, gxxr,or cbr and I don't want an Italian bike due to there's maintanance involved. Anyway, what do you guys think? Am I crazy? Is it just a phase? Or is it time to move on? Is there anyone out there that made this move and regreted it?

It sounds as though your bored with the warrior. Now that you've customised your bike, you need a new challenge, a new vision to play with. I say buy it, warrior's are a dime a dozen in the classifieds, so it's not like you could'nt build a new one someday. Besides, it's more fun to ride rocket's. I really like my warrior, but I miss riding my R1. Sometimes you just need more than the warrior can offer.

****, ****, ****........so many bikes, so little time! I want to ride them all! [/emoticons/emotion-4.gif] There are so many new nice bikes out with so many different characteristics, it's so hard to really decide on just one.
I've told myself a thousand times that the Warrior has the best of all worlds that a bike can offer, but it really doesn't. No matter how you look at it, the Warrior cannot fly like a bike sport bike can. I'm going to try and ride one for a short time and see if that's what I really want in a bike. I'll know for sure once I get back on the Warrior. She will let me know what I need![/emoticons/emotion-5.gif]

OK...I admit I went right to the last post on this thread without reading all the others........

I'm also on the lookout for a good used sports bike to park next to my Warrior in the garage.

But......Can you say Ducati 1098?????????????

I can't afford one but if I had an extra 15K ??????????[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif][/emoticons/emotion-2.gif][/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

This is my first post on this forum though I've been lurking for awhile now. Recently purchased a new red '06 Warrior. Love it! For the past year I've been riding an "05 ZX-10R. Love that bike too! But sold it shortly after buying the Warrior.

Felt that I found the pinnacle of motorcycling excitement last year when I got the ZX-10R. Not much compares to it in terms of lightness and acceleration. It's a perfect "destination" bike, meaning it's a blast to ride once you get it to a track or on some curvy mountain roads. But it's a total drag if, like me, you have to drive it on the freeway for an hour to get to that "destination" or you want to commute on it. The ZX-10R -- and I presume most literbikes -- is only fun if you're going really fast. At legal speeds I quickly got bored and frustrated -- the bike seemed to be unhappy at legal speeds as well. And the crouched position is only comfortable during hard acceleration. It's gets old quickly at around-town speeds. The bike was made for the track and in my opinon, really only makes sense on a track.

Greatly prefer the Warrior. It's fun on the curvy roads but also a pleasure to ride on the freeway on my way to the curvy roads. It's got class-leading power and all-day comfort (for me, at least). Plus I love the way it sounds: growls like a panther at low rpms, grumbles like a crocodile at mid-rpms and roars like a lion up top. Overall, riding it is very satisfying to the soul. I also find the Warrior much easier to handle than my ZX-10R. It's hard to turn on the ZX-10R -- especially in sharp corners -- unless you're laying on the tank in a full crouch; if you're sitting semi-upright it's difficult to maneuver because so much of your weight is on the bars. And it's nearly impossible to push a handle bar forward when gravity simultaneously forces you to push downward. I have considerably more leverage with the Warrior's handlebars. The ZX-10R has a lot more lean clearance than the Warrior, but if I hang off on the Warrior the way I do on the Ninja I can avoid scraping anything on just about any curve. Last but not least, my wife likes the Warrior. She hated the ZX-10R and refused to ride on the back of it.

Keep both bikes if you can afford it. I could probably afford both but prefer to have only one bike at a time -- I barely have enough time and energy to ride and maintain one motorcycle.

I think to be truely happy you have to have more than one ride in the stable. I have decided that the warrior will be the sporty bike (especially after a PCIII and HC pistons) for around town and moderate highway work. I want to get the wife out there more so I want something with bags for some cross country work. Maybe even go all out for the Electra Glide Ultra. At least that's the way I'm leaning right now. Warrior has to be paid off first.

I have to agree. A friend of mind let me ride his R1 and that bike is so fast. Front wheel comes up evertime you twist the throttle and 0 to 100 before you know it but I wouldn't buy one. The insurance is triple the cost of the warrior and police are automatically attracted to sports bikes. My 02 cents don't do it. quote:Originally posted by maxmaniac

Before the Warrior I was on a V-max and seriously considered an R1 but after a lot and I mean A LOT of self reasoning(and borrowing a buds Gixxer 1000) I figured out the R1 would be nothing but speeding tickets and out running the law. Those types of bikes just beg to be cranked up and when you're riding one it's human nature to let her rip. I don't regret the warrior a single bit. (I even get the nod form the crotch rocket crowd....I guess the Warrior is just bad ass in a different way) Just my .02 hope I didn't sound to much like your mother....LOL LOL LOL[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

I love sports bikes and would love to have one , but not as my only bike.
I came close to trading my Warrior for an 05 R1 and I'm glad it fell apart.
Its probably a good thing cause I know I'd ride it fast and end up in jail or dead.[}/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]
With 2 kids I think I'll stick to the Warrior.

By the way , do you know the difference between a BMW car and motorcycle? With the motorcycle the a-hole is on the outside.[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

Just thought it was funny , my buddy was on a poker run and a guy on a Harley next to him saw a BMW and told him the joke. Then the guy on the BMW pulls up next to my freind because they are freinds . The guy on the Harley was kinda embarressed. HA HA[/emoticons/emotion-3.gif)]

Well, I can't believe that Nowell hasn't responded to this thread yet...

He has the BMW K1200s and it is a BEAUTIFUL machine! He brags how reliable and comfortable it is and will take it for cross-country trips on the drop of a dime, no thought needed.

He is working on his Viper-themed Warrior and loves it too, but he'll be first to tell you to follow your dream, and if your dream includes the K1200, then follow it.

Myself, I have a K75c in the garage next to my Warrior. Truth be told, don't like the way the Beemer's shaft drive reacts, and am much more comfortable on my Warrior.

My $.02? Keep the Warrior, ride a sport, you'll be back! Don't give up your Warrior, unless you want to create a new one. If so... what are you asking for her?

Look for an older sport tourer then you can afford both. I love to ride both bikes depending what mood I'm in. Wife will only ride on my '93 GTS 1000. I have contemplated selling Warrior, but I know I would miss that bad v-twin feel. I love that BMW or check Honda Interceptor.

Man....what a GREAT topic.

Ever since my last trip to the Dragon...I got the bug. Bad. I stood there on the mountain as all those talented (and not so talented) riders when screaming past, inline engines reaching rpms our Vtwins never even considered...and I was hooked. Then you get to the bottom, and they are all standing around, many of them with this air of superiority because they know they are faster...plus those bikes get the attention of the ladies...and that is hard to resist for anyone, even if you are happily married. I mean...its always flattering to get the attention, right?

So I have to admit...I got the sportbike bug really bad.

But then I started thinking about the downsides...sore shoulders, sore back...they suck if you can't open them up regularly, but if you do, you are really in danger of legal trouble or worse. Price of insurance is very high. They are harder to work on than the Warrior and there are way less truly unique mods.

Plus you have to ask yourself: Will I kill myself on this bike?

Its not a failure to admit you aren't the type that should have that much power. The failure is letting your ego take over for your brain, which takes over your hand...and all of a sudden you are in trouble.

I dunno...I will always struggle with wanting a superbike...but for me...its something that is better off left alone.

You have to make your choice as well...and there is some great advice already posted.

Either way, you better not leave this forum...we know where you live!

Best of luck with your choice.

I'm so glad I posted before dropping the hammer! I've really decided to keep the Warrior and most likely pick up a small sport bike for myself and for the wife to learn on. I found a kawi ex500 for 600 bucks in good condition from a local seller. I'll probably go and look at it in a week or two. It looks pretty clean and the guy says it runs great. I could toss that thing around like no tomorrow and than let the wife learn on it when she's ready. There were so many good points and good advise in this topic and I have to admit, if it wasn't for those good points, I'd be selling my bike. I already
had an offer for 12,000 from someone on craigslist. He said as soon as he sells his chopper, he wants to see my bike. I guess he's gonna have to find another Warrior cause this one ain't for sale!

vector18,

I'm glad that you decided to keep your Warrior...The roads wouldn't have been the same without you and your Warrior prowling the New York highways and by-ways.[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

Want to hear something funny!?

My wife ask me last night if I thought she could learn to ride a scooter and then later on may be get a motorcycle for her. I told her "Yes...But only if the scooter wasn't a Zuma because, I didn't want her having anything that was faster than my Warrior!" Mr. Wilson, it's so funny you post that! A few days ago me and my co-worker walked around a Harley dealer killing time during our lunch break and I asked to test ride a Buell 1200. The salesman asked me if I was serious about buying it otherwise he won't let me test ride it. I asked him all sorts of questions about it and even asked him if the bike was capable of going 160mph or not. I am telling you the truth when I say this happened to me.......he told me that since I asked him that, he will not let me test ride one!!!!!! I informed him that I will not do 160mph on the test ride and I just wanted to know if it was capable of it!!
He seemed alittle annoyed so I just left!
