Throttle Position Sensor

I was looking at the manual input codes and noticed that my throttle position sensor is not reading within the parameters the book says it should. Refering to manual input code 01. My reading at idle is 16 and at full throttle 88. According to my book it should be >95 at full. Does anyone know of this or do you think this is enough out of range to worry about?

I'm using the hardcopy manual from Yamaha. The numbers come from the section 6-14, "Sensor operation data display verification table." The code 01 is the one you input into the tach and the readings are coming out of there as well. I think the PCIII plays no part in this but am really not sure. If I understand the situation correctly I might or might not have a problem with the TPS, PCmndr is a side issue, but now I'm wondering if the throttles themselves aren't opening all the way? This idle figure is in range and match my friends bike but it is the wide open number that is causing me concern. Also in question is "is 88 truly a no good reading"? If I adjust the idle baseline will I be making enough change to get the open into range. If anyone has comments or experience I would sure appreciate the info before I go messing with a good thing.

Forgot to say, the way you get to the area of sensor data is by:
1. Push & hold both select & reset
2. Turn the key on
3. Hold for eight seconds until "DIAG" shows
4. Release then push both again for two seconds then it enters into the mode
5. Release, and then use the buttons individually to cycle through the sensors.

A common problem in medical schools is when the freshman start reading all the medical textbooks they suddenly start self-diagnosing themselves with all kinds of rare and unusual diseases.

If the bike is not running correctly, take it to the doctor, it's a warranty claim. Get into that ECU or mess with the TPS and you're on your own. "Don't go messing with a good thing" as a wise forum writer said above.

Stan, as a medical professional I can attest to this behavior all too well, except those "freshman" are residents and they end up diagnosing patients instead.(YIKES) Well put though, but some "doctors" can really botch up your life and your bike too, finding the best one can really be a challenge.
