Sounds like they were cutting down on the pimped out civics in the area.

cruzr are you talking about Huntington Beach by chance? I've seen one of those on PCH in that area.

 

Was in the Redondo Beach area and a buddy said he heard it was up in Malibu too (?)

 

I've heard of that in California, but haven't seen it yet. I know in Burbank, they DO enforce it... some sort of city ordinance against loud bikes. I'm up in NorCal, and have yet to see any signs of it, but I know it's around the corner.

 

A resort town here has a sign "Welcome to ______" and below it "$400 fine for straight pipes". My STAR group wanted to ride there, and called the police. The response was that, they mostly infore it on the Hardley people. [/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

Legalaxcy8 hit it on the nose! Living in central Cali. i think tyhre going to crack down on the CAR mufflers of those modded Civics. Thats what the MUFFLER sign meant.

 

I've never seen a sign like that but my average so far is 1.5 tickets a season. Still a lot of saddle time left, maybe this year it will be different.[:I]

I have heard in the LA area they will ticket for having aftermarket exhaust alone.

 

If any of you are members of the AMA or read the official monthly magazine you already know that the AMA has taken a public stand against loud motorcycles - which in my opinion totally sucks, it feels like the AMA put a knife in my back. Suddenly you need to ride a quiet motorcycle to be a responsible rider, which is simply a subjective and arbitrary point of view.

I do my part - I don't ride the bike when starting it at 1am will wake a neighborhood other than my own, but I do raise holy **** on the street and fortunately in Oregon I've never heard of one - not one ticket for loud pipes on a bike. An Oregon State Cop on a bike accelerated up to me last Summer to check out the Warrior, he shadowed for awhile to check out the bike and peeled off. Oregon cops are cool in that way.

 

There was a big uproar around here late last summer from the grey hair comunity along Lakeshore Drive that the bikes were too loud. PD bought some sound equipment and warned they would start writing tickets. I haven't heard of anyone getting one yet. As long as people are not drag racing down there I think they let it slide. If they started writing tickets for that, they would have to start writing kids with radios, lifted trucks, hot rods... That would take time away from them busting drunk drivers.

 

Now thats just stupid, if they did that here i would get rid of the speedstar pipes and go with straight pipes and then figure out a way to amplify them! loud bikes are bad, but loud school buses hitting the curb at every turn is ok?

 

They were issuing cites here for loud car radios a couple years ago but that was fazed out. With all of the modded "little cute cars" here they would have a tough time issuing cites for exessive exaust noise. I am a firm believer that my exaust lets people know I'm next to them, unless their deaf[/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]

 

My guess, he'd pay it and bitch a lot...Same thing I would do!

Have seen one In North Myrtle Beach during bike week,but never saw any cops actually enforcing it. There always way too busy busting all the dumbasses on sport bikes that are showing off

 

Keep the revs down when in town and you should be ok.

 

I'm in Canada B.C. here a few weeks ago My buds and I got pulled over in Vancouver and told to get out. there was like 8 cops on are us in five minutes, Biker gang Biker Gang......the lady cop that red us the riot act before kickin us out said that she would call up a decimal reader unit and bust all us for loud pipes then send us in for motor vehical inspections. So we tossed our legs between our legs and got the ^%$ out of there...nice an easy[xx(]

then raised **** later in Surrey.... cops are to busy chasing crackheads there to worry bout loud bikes [/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]
