What part of Iowa are you in? As far as I know in iowa you can have your plate mounted on the side but you're supposed to have it mounted horizontally. I've had a few vertical mounts (currently running one) and never had any problems though.

And x2 on the Blaster X, just got one and put it on, quality is great and it has a stock plug so it just plugs right in ready to go.
