Whats going on guys i need some help, I was hit on my bike and this dumbass slammed on his brakes and skidded out. I slammed into the back of his truck and he left the seen. I thought everything was ok except my front fender but my frame has a crack in it. I found a place in miami that can repair it but i need to know if anyone knew of any shops in chicago or near me?

I decided this is the perfect time to make some serious mod's, so i am gona have a new front end put on the bike and some other major changes. My main concern is finding a good shop, i found these pics on the forum from other member. The damage is in the same spot and the same shape and everything.

ouch - sorry to hear that.

I'm not sure if they can help you, but DGY in Downers Grove does alot of racing and they welded aluminum for me once. I know the owner there and he's pretty cool.

Worth checking them out and seeing I guess. Ask for Rob and let him know Thom sent you. Rob has always gone out of his way for me. Whenever folks at my local club need anything, I go w/ them to DGY when I can to get better than average deals.

Good luck!

ROFLMAO!!![/emoticons/emotion-2.gif][/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]... sincerely though, glad you are okay. the bike can be fixed. sounds like you are planning on spending some money... why not just get a new frame and be done with it? unless you had insurance... dunno... good luck

Are you guys talking about www.bmschoppers.com over in Fort Lauderdale?
I doubt Brystol-Myers Squibb are that good at repairing frames.....

Please, re-read my response to Yobi regarding his cracked frame situation. I can't tell you strongly enough that a welded repair in that cast aluminum neck section is a liability waiting to happen. There are a number of technical aspects that need to be considered before welding and that part would not meet enough criteria to ever warrant welding in that area. If you brought your frame to my shop to be repaired, I would not take it. But, I'm sure, you can find someone willing to attempt it for you. People successfully go over Niagra Falls in barrels too. Neither is a sound idea. I understand the desire to save some ducks as frames are expensive, but that isn't the place.

In case there is someone willing to attempt this stunt, please take a bit of professional advice first - If you decide to repair your frame this way, insist that the weldor provide you with X-rays BEFORE the repair(to ensure no additional unseen cracking) and again after welding and machining. If they are unwilling or unable, they're definitely not the guys for the job. Then, ask about their stress-relieving processes. If they tell you it's not required or they don't have the capability, same answer - look elsewhere.

Now I've done this twice. 'Nuff said.

Same here...the insurance adjuster came out to look at my ducati and just as we were about done doing the assessment (which I was kind of happy with since there was no major damage and I was going to make out to the good on the deal) he found a crack in the frame. The dude turned to me and said order yourself a new bike.

When I cracked my frame on my 02, I went with the insurance.
Unfortunately the dealer was halfway through repairs from a wreck before they found the frame damage. Ended up totaling the bike. ( just put in those new pistons too)

Hey Rico, truly sorry to hear about your frame man, that sucks. Are you going to be replacing your headlight as well, did it survive without any damage? If so wanna sell it? I'm putting my warrior back together after my crash and need a stock headlight as that is the only part I've not gotten off of someone here on the site. Let me know via pm or back here in this post.

I am the one with the similiar damage... I have really thought of alot of differrent option "ehackers" custom frame route sounds really good but i havent made a final decision also found these guys http://www.framestraightsystem.com/ i sent Ron my pics and he told me the it would be about 350 plus shipping about 100 buck each way he said the following."Yes , I have completed quite a few.. I fill weld, then re machine the bearing cup to proper alignment with upper bearing race and dimension for the lower bearing race..
"..same work apply total frame removal... as far as a used frame is concerned i scratch that idea for reason being #1 no macthing VINs it would be a rebuilt bike afterward...#2 why else would anybody replace a frame other than they dumped it too and now you might buy someone elses problem. New frame would be stamped with your VIN and you can find it for about 1100 plus shipping...I wish I would have had insurance but I have no choice but to fix it out of pocket. Good luck pm me if you need anymore info also if you find out anything else please let me know....
