LOL!!! I think most of the wives that will be there ride thier own bike or as a passenger. Mine doesn't ride or camp

 

Just gets a little hard tellin wifey after i've been gone all week that i'm gonna be gone all weekend too...i like my wife, hate doin that to her, maybe a few bucks, she can hit the winery and shoe store and never miss me..ha

 

There is a Winery about 15 miles away. There is not anything really close by for any shopping. She'll have to travel an hour or so to get to anything decent. That just put her on the road away from the hotel another two hours just ot get back and forth so you should be fine!!!!

 

My wife will be tagging along, but she doesn't like to ride . She will probably hit up the local malls too!!!

 

You'd better be nice to her and convince her to ride with you or you'll never be able to keep up with everyone else.

 

Hey guys, I need some planning help. This thing is 5/7 (Saturday) - 5/14 (Saturday). I'm only going to be able to ride up on a Friday and stay all day Saturday and come back Sunday. Either weekend works out for me. I'm hoping to ride the "Back Of The Dragon" with as many of y'all as I can. So I'm wondering if you guys can give me some kind of idea about when the most of y'all are gonna be out there for this ride. The first Saturday or the second Saturday? I'm not trying to schedule anything for anyone, just hoping to be able to ride with as many of you as I can for my short trip. I talked to Dwight a few minutes ago and he convinced me to throw this out on the thread to get some feedback. I hope to smoke.... uh... I mean "ride with" as many of you at once as I can on the Back Of The Dragon road.... Just trying to sync up with as many of you as I can for the ride. And remember... don't fear The Reaper.

Me and Jan are probably not gonna be there until noon or so on Saturday. You should try to stay until Monday. Get 2 full days riding in on Saturday and Sunday.

 

I plan to be there the first weekend too. Fingers crossed I get my Viper rims back by then.

I'm lookin' at the first Saturday thru probably Thursday, assuming my rear rim comes back in time, and I can figure out how to get all my new bits on in time to get down there rather than chasing the elusive split tail...

Close call on that weather yesterday You guys OK?

 

At my house we got some HARD wind and rain for about 20 minutes or so and lost power for a couple of hours. Zero damage here. I rode my dirtbike back to the town/neighborhood I grew up in (Fayetteville) and it looked like h3ll. My old neighborhood was devastated. The roof was completely ripped off of my old elementary school. One of the houses I grew up in had the roof completely lifted up and then dropped back down on it kinda crooked. I've never seen so many cops in one place in my life. I got stopped once and they searched my saddlebags. The cop found a camera and said "What is this?!?!?" I said "It's a camera..." He said "Where did it come from!?!?!" I said "It's mine. I bought it from a store." He said "What are you planning to do with it?!?!?" I had a hundred smart@ss replies pop into my head but instead I just said "Well I kinda thought I'd take some pictures with it..." Hmmm... He must just be a lot smarter than I am. I didn't realize you could do much with a camera except take pictures. He let me go on my way a minute later after he puffed his chest up a little more. They're saying somewhere around 62 tornadoes tore up NC yesterday. The most ever in history. At least 22 confirmed dead in NC so far.

 

Oh and by the way , Ive got the Triple ready to bury the vmax so bring your suit for the funeral

The western part of the state faired pretty well. We had just enough damage to keep me working all weekend but hey the OT will pay for my trip to TWOT Fest. :~) Glad everyone (on here anyway)

Lodging is up to you. Most will camp behind Freebornes. The owner says he will charge $15 a night for tents. There are also rooms available in the hotel, there may be a house or two for rent (right across the street) and some may choose to stay at Wild Woody's campground right next door. Stations inn is right across the road which is basically the same setup as Freebornes. All the loding info with links etc...is on page one, first post.

As is tradition at our warrior gatherings, there is no set schedule of rides each day. Dwight and myself have some really nice rides planned but in no particular order or day. We do not schedule 'parade' type rides because there are so many different skill levels in our group. Most of us have ridden together enough to know which group we like to ride in and tomorrows plans are discussed around the fire the night before. If you hear a group planning to ride in a certain area and you'd like to tag along...let them know but you may want to ask about their riding style. Some ride more aggressive than others and prefer going fast and playing in the twisties over site seeing and taking pics. So pick your group accorddingly or bring a GPS/map so you can find your way back home.

I believe that its going to be an orgainized cluster f*** in and or around Freebornes. Plenty of camping available, as well as rentals. JD will surely chime in with more info. Somewhere early in this 46 page thread, theres more info on lodging if you want to look yourself.
