Just talked to my selected repair location and they have received one 1600 kit. He said that the 1600 kit was two completely assembled shafts with all new gears. He said it was not what they expected since their first instructions were telling them how to disassemble them and put in the suspect parts.

I wonder if the 1700 will be a completely assembled gear/shaft set and not just a clip and gear.

Still not ETA here for the 1700 kits

The "completely assembled shafts with all new gears" is one of the later left over 1600 kits from their last go around. My dealer had one of those on the shelf and they made one Road Star owner very happy.

Penzoil,
Thats what my Yamaha guy said and thus the reason he was so surprised when he received two shaft assemblies. I guess he could have still received a left over kit for the 1600 from Yamaha.

I would feel better about two assemblies because if there is a problem with the gear/clip rubbing and wearing debris could cause dmage to other gears, right?

Any way I guess we will all know what this kit envolves in a few months.
