First off all let me start by welcoming you to the most addictive site i have ever encountered.
Secondly you want some advice whell here are some instructions!!!

Instructions for riding a Yamaha Road Star Warrior:

1) sit on bike
2) start bike and idle till warm
3) pull in clutch and put in gear
4) release clutch and rip on the throttle
5) {VERY IMPORTANT!!} HOLD THE F*** ON!!!
6) Enjoy!! Side effects may include whiplash, wrinkle free skin, and an evil smile resembling the "Joker".

That's a pretty accurate description in the difference between the two bikes! I'm even thinking about a new fancy full helmet (been wearing a cruiser style half helmet) since I'm running with no shield now.

Do you have any issues with them dragging in a hard right hander?

Not yet. I have the staggered pipes not sure if they touch down before the flush cuts or not.

Great lookin bike and welcome! i still ahve my Vstar1100, it is now the Gals bike! Check out the free mods for the bike, removing the red stripe on tires, removing the warrior emblem, cutting the strap to the back seat AIS block off, fuel line relocation-left side clean up...and many many more!!!
