Just curious if anyone here has any experience with the Triumph Speed Triple....I'd like to hear about it. They look sexy as ****, but TINY....really tiny. Yes, I've seen them in person, but never ridden one myself.

Yes, very tiny!! I couldn't ride one for more than an hour without hurting pretty bad. But they are a total "get in trouble" bike IMO.

Not too comfortable, but what a sexy bitch that thing is. Total hooligan machine. I love it. Not sure it's the best bang for your buck though. Most of the 4-cyl liter-class sport bikes will eat its lunch.

Not sure if people really cross-shop these with liter class sport bikes. At least I don't believe they're in the same class, they have a different mission.

Personally, I'd much rather have one of these than any sportbike. I like to see the mechanical bits.

I took one for a ride last year and was so happy with it. For me I was very close to picking one up but they are a bit impractical for what I was looking for.

The bike is fast, wants to turn and hits pretty hard. I think under powered is a bad opinion on them, wasn't under powered for me at all. Loved it.

The Triumph triple may not have the outright power of a 1 litre straight 4 but they pull like a train from about 3000 upwards. Lets see a straight 4 do that.

I don't disagree - I actually prefer the Triple over the GSX-Rs, R1s, ZX-10s et al of the world. Much more personality and a much better sound. IMO.

By the way, it is a liter class bike - 1050cc... I should have said the Japanese Liter class bikes. They are just screaming fast.

At the end of the day I'd take the Triple.

Performance (Measured at crankshaft to DIN 70020)
Maximum Power 132PS (131bhp) at 9,250 rpm
Maximum Torque 105Nm (77ft.lbf) at 7,550 rpm

Weight (Dry) 416lbs

I'd ride one in a heartbeat as an around town bike. Total fun!!!

I like the Speed Triple for it's character. It can wheelie pretty easy also. One of the rags I was reading praised it for what it is - a hooligan street bike. I don't think I would compare it to the litre sportbikes just b/c it has a different mission. I would compare it to the Duc Monster, Mot Guzzi, etc. In that case, I prefer the Speed Triple overall.

I have an 06 Triple and absolutely love it. It handles very well and has great brakes. It is a riot on the track. It made me think about selling my Warrior. Every time I ride the Warrior those thoughts vanish. I rode it to Colorado the last two summers and just love it out on the open road. I had a Kawasaki ZRX 1200 before the Triple. I like the Triple so much more. I never expected that. The Triple is the most fun bike Ive ever had.

I had an hour's trial ride at a dealer in Scottsdale Arizona. A year before I rode the Daytona 955i and preferred it. I guess the 955i is not part of the new lineup anymore. The Speed Triple is cramped but turns on a dime with nine cents change. I'd kill myself because my eyes are not what they used to be and my right wrist still twists! If you like stupid-fast machines and if you like the sound of a full-throttle 3-cylinder (who doesn't?) you'll be more than happy. Plus everyone looks at them!
