So 2 Saturdays ago I picked up my bike from the shop. I had an oil change done as well as having a PCV and BAK installed and dyno tune. I rode the bike for a little after picking it up, then didn't ride it until last Friday. Filled up the tank with 93 octane gas and rode about 20 miles before the check engine light came on. From the time I picked it up until the light came on I had maybe 60 miles on the bike. It also started running a little sluggish and it sounded like the valves or lifters were tapping. I've asked some guys on the warrior fb page about this and I've been told a few things. Check the oil level. I'm told if it's cold and reads full then there is too much oil in it. Also to check the fuel dry break. And something about being able to check the code using the tach buttons but idk how to do that. Any and all help would be appreciated because if its a quick fix I can do myself that would be better than taking the bike back to the shop and waiting forever for it again. Thanks

The bike has two fuel dry-breaks. One is under the rider seat along the tank. The other is left side under where the stock left scoop is or was.

Unclick each. Spray a brief shot of WD40 into female half. Re-click gently until audible click is heard. Do both. Fuel will again flow from top tank to bottom tank.

If this fails then unbolt and gently lift tail of tank at seat and find the biggish rubber hose and push it aside so it no longer is squished by the installed top fuel tank. Less common but happens.

Been working too many hours. I re-read the OP.

So your check engine light came on, not the low fuel light? My bad.

The service manual has steps to read codes. Tap 'Technical Bits' in my sigpic and check those tabs for an e-copy.

Is the oil change shop a Yamaha shop?
Did you read how to check the oil level or did you watch that video in The Welcome Mat forum?

Did you buy gas at the usual gas station you frequent or at another name brand gas station? We can talk about octane later.

When you first turn on ignition switch, up top, it should give you a number, not the clock display... that us your code that turned on the MIL (malfunction indicator light.... check engine light). You can then use that code to see where your problem is. There may be more than one code so you'll have to go into the diag portion of the display and retrieve your code history. Once you fix your issue, you can go back into diag mode, back into history and then clear the history.
