Are you entering Diag code 55? Its an actuator verification code that provides no readback according to the manual. Code 55 should just actuate the solenoid and flash the light. If you have possibly entered one of the sensor operation codes, you'll get a voltage, pressure, temperature, etc... depending on the code.

Page 7-27 of the service manual suggests checking the decompression solonoid at the specified temperature because the result varies by temperature. The factory check is done at 68-degrees F and results in 1.2 ohms. The solonoid also has a thermistor that should be read at 77-degrees F and results in 70 ohms. I guess you check one in the morning and the other after it gets warmer! Anyway, your tester needs to be set to "ohms x 1". While you might be able to generally extrapolate the ohm variance for other temperatures there are too many variables. This will help if you believe you have a decompression solonoid problem (or are you like us and just hunting around to learn the machine!). Anyway, the readout on the bike will vary, too, according to temperature.
