It's time for a new rear tire, again, and I'm seriously thinking ct, I know I know but let me just say this, I go through tires like David Lee Roth goes through hot chicks and also I've seen in person request's ct and it looks rad! I like the fat look but my rims cost way too much to swap for a wide tire kit. That being said my concern is handling, is it really all that bad? I stayed away from lowering the back for years cuz I thought handling would suck and when I finally did it, it wasn't bad at all. From what I've read it looks like ct size is 225x45X17, is that the lowest profile? I would like the lowest profile possible then I can lower the back some more. Don't judge me!

Used one on my last Valkyrie, with a dual sport BMW rear tire on the front. Both had 14k on them when I sold the bike. Looked almost like new. Both tires handled great. Just experiment with air pressure till you get it dialed in. As soon as my mc tires get worn out, I'll be buying the same two tires again.

235/45 17... 45 is the percentage of the width used as side wall height. So Joey, a 235/45 (105.75) is taller than a 225/45 (101.25).

Well I did it! I spent the day riding around town and in some twisties trying to get used to it! Rides so different than a mt:eek: Counter steering is definitely the way to go. I like it and by tomorrow it wont be an issue, I was happy with the lean angles I was pulling off on my first day:D For pics go to the What did you do to your warrior thread in General Discussion, thanks everyone for the info and input!

I'm really impressed by the responses thus far in the thread. So much so, that I will have to come out and say that I've been riding Darkside for about 4 yrs now on two different bikes. I put the BFGoodrich Gforce T/A, 225/45/17 on soon after I purchased my Warrior. I've never had any handling issues in my opinion. Even rode the Tail of the Dragon with a group last yr and didn't lose traction or fall off the mountain as other friends thought would happen.... ;-) Bike handles better on wet roads and I think it aslo got rid of the wobble when riding on grooves. As for some additional performance numbers, on previous bike I tested stopping distance from 60 mph. I marked off a stretch of rd and measured distance to stop and just back brake, 6 times. It was 20-30% better with CT. I couldn't do the test on Warrior since tire was bald when I bought it and it wouldn't be a fair test. Now there will be naysayers as always. But I say to each his own. A CT isn't for everyone, just like a suicide shifter, fat tires, ape hangers, drag bars, and so on aren't either safe or for everyone's liking. But I'm glad to hear you like it, and I appluad the forum (thus far) for keeping it civil.... :)

There, you happy now? :D

Why would I judge you when we all want to BE YOU haha!

Okay seriously, the CT is your deal. For performance and technology I'm eyeballing the Avon Storm AV66 X-M 3D in 200/50ZR17 (75W) #90000020782. Its longer mileage claims seem to be holding true in countries where it came out last year. This new tire in this size is hitting the dealers as we speak. I've been waiting since winter!!!!

I gotta say after the first day of riding on a CT it became natural and now after 4 days I feel confident on it, I'm still getting used to it but not nearly as weird as that first day! I'm really digging it! I know it's not for everybody....maybe that's why I like it!

I haven't found a front tire in the correct size in the 3-D. I've been on Avons for about 7 years. Wear like iron (>10k miles), don't lose air, great in the wet. just sayin'...

The link you provided shows 23.1" tire diameter for your selected tire.
Compare that OD to the two OEM tires that came with the bike:

OEM Dunlop D220 200/50ZR17
. Tire Width: 194mm = 7.64"
. Tire Diameter: 635mm = 25.00" <-----
. Tread Depth: 6.5mm = over 8/32"
. Rim Range: 6" - 6.5" recommended
. Capacity: 853 pounds
. Weight of Tire: not listed

OEM Bridgestone BT020 200/50ZR17
. Tire Width: 201mm = 7.91"
. Tire Diameter: 631mm = 24.84" <-----
. Tread Depth: 6.5mm = over 8/32"
. Rim Range: 6" - 6.5" recommended
. Capacity: 853 pounds
. Weight of Tire: not listed

Data is from the Tire details thread: http://www.rswarrior.com/forums/13-...m/forums/13-technical-discussion/173513-warrior-rear-tire-technical-detail.html

Thanks.
So if I do get this lower profile tire it will lower my bike 1 inch and since it takes more revolutions per mile then the 225/45/17 it will sort of be like changing my Front sprocket to a 31 tooth right?

I'm curious, I've had a CT for 3 yrs now, actually I'm on the 2nd one on my Warrior and I've fought every battle of people saying how un-safe they are, etc, etc. But this LOWER profile you're speaking of could actually be even worse in the handling department. Putting less edge of the tire into turning a corner could be a problem.
