headlight only burns when the bike is running.rest of who knows

 

Do the original keys have some type of chip maybe? The bike was running just fine when I parked it.

 

No chip you may have burned out a relay. No headlight until the bike it's running.

My headlight would turn on just with the turn of the switch. The bike did not need to be running for the headlight to be on. Ill take a look at the relays.

 

You have the only one that does that my man they don't do that from the factory

 

Nah, you've gotta be mistaken. Headlight fires up with the bike. It does stay on after you shut it down, and stays lit till you shut it down with the key

Is there another another fuse box besides the one under the seat?

 

The previous owner must have done some mods to it then. I have drained the battery several times because the light stayed on after the bike was turned off and the ignition swith was on.

 

yes, the light will stay on after the bike is turned off with the kill switch and the key is on. that does not mean the light comes on when you first turn the key, but as said, somebody could've modified it. if need be, i think those relays go for reasonable. use the google search at the top of the page and you'll find lots of info on it. let us know what you find.

 

If the PO modified it then all bets are off. Get a copy of the manual from my link below and read about the fuses and relays. I think it's chapter 6. Maybe around page 32?

 

Probably fried the start relay located way down the bottom of the rat nest under the seat. If you put power to the wrong wire , you smoked it. If your good with basic electronics and a soldering iron you could fix it. Nothing in there but relays, diodes and traces. You'll know which are bad by the burnt traces. Repair the traces and replace the diodes.

Im having trouble locating the relays.

 

The bike does crank, it just doesnt fire up and start. When I checked for spark in the spark plug I wasnt getting any spark. Could it still be the start relay?

 

Hey man if you can't figured it take it to sparks. It's on kolb and 22nd. It's just south of the intersection with the chuys restraunt on it. Maybe broadway? He mostly works on Harley's but his guy is a great electronic man. I've been there a few times, he may threaten your cheap jap bike with a hammer lol but he's a good guy
