Good outside the box thinkin 60ft-Ive got one on top of my oil cooler-Ill usually lean foward at stops to look at it-escpecialy in this heat-we can access the oil tempfrom the built in diag on tac I thinkit is#10 and air temp under tank is # 05-not sure where the oil temp is taken from though in the diag mode!

That was my first thought also. I do like the idea though. Has anyone found a screw in thermometer that works?

 

Still good just checked it from a little ride around the block 179 degF saw 198 once after a hard ride. I got the gauge at Hobby Town when I bought a T-Maxx a few years ago. It's a Traxxas brand so maybe serch Traxxas onboard temp gauge.

 

First, I think this is a very cool idea, great job thinking outside the box!

Not that it matters but just in case helpful, it seems most 10-40 and 20-50 motor oils 'flash' (gas-off vapor that can be ignited) at somewhere between 400F and 500F. ref: More Than You Ever Wanted to Know About Motor Oil (not verified).

The Warrior's motor oil temp operating range from Page 2-2 of the service manual is 158F ~ 194F range. Somewhere above the ~195F mark the oil will foam. Both are well below the flash point.

Tessco 'Durable Nylon' wire ties in white or colors are good up to max about ~150F. So nylon might not be a great choice if these numbers are correct. If there's wire ties made from PVC it melts at ~400F. If there's wire ties made from Teflon in melts at ~600F. I have no idea if 'plastic' wire ties are made from anything other than nylon.

I think this is a cool idea and I might just steal your invention bro!

I like this, would be nice to be able to moniter temp and pressure. Looks like this will have to get added to the to do list along with the pressure gauge!
