Anyone attending ? I'd like to know who's paying the muppets who come up with stupid ideas like this ???

- New Regulations to PREVENT riders modifying any part of a bikes'
powertrain, from air filter to rear tyre size
- Random road-side stop checks to TARGET motorcycles
- Future MoT tests to CONTROL non-standard parts
- Compulsory ABS, adding cost and complexity (especially to small machines)
- New rider numbers halved after the number of bike test centres SLASHED
- From Jan 2013 there will be EVEN MORE restrictions on new riders
- Ireland wants riders and passengers to be forced to wear hi-viz full
sleeve jackets
- France wants hi-viz/reflective clothing, but also wants to BAN bikes
over 7 years old from cities

25th September-

EU HANDS OFF BIKING- ACTION NOW!

Biking as we know and love it is under threat from proposals working
their way through the legislative process:

Talking to politicians is important, but it isn't enough on its own.
It's time to show the UK Government and its representatives in Europe
that we want them to roll back the tide of interference in biking, not
add to it.

What better way to fight the slow strangulation of UK biking than by
symbolically and simultaneously strangling the nation's arteries in a
co-ordinated action; its motorways and dual carriageways?

It won't take long to make our point at a steady 45-48mph, so join us
for a sedate Sunday lunchtime social ride with all your mates.

Gathering from noon at selected service areas, we roll at 1pm using the
inside lanes, all over the country at exactly the same time, melting
away after about 15 miles. Our strength is in unity.

The list of start points for the day of action continues to grow and are
now on the MAG website and in a new national facebook page.

AND...it works because we stick to the law of the road and in Westminster and particularly round Trafalgar Square our presence brought the traffic to an angry halt ...so much so that radio traffic alerts actually mentioned how bad it was!!

the NO to Westminster Parking Charges leaders idea was that the very drivers we p^ssed off would take an interest, in a vested interest to get rid of us!!...lol.....the bigger the numbers the quicker the response must be...so i'll be their for sure

A while back we made the m25 dartford toll river crossing free to bikers, by just turning up and dropping our coins...didn't take many of us to turn the whole area into a ruddy car park...and now we travel free....still!

they've constantly 'fixed' the stats to make us look bad....

london mayor boris has kept a few more of us alive by giving us access to bus lanes so we don't get slaughtered by oncoming cages

but councils elsewhere continue to lie and fix figures to make it look like we hurt cyclists so we are kept out of there precious bus lanes we're cyclists just slow up all the public transport...

none of it is a truth..not once has a motorcyclist hurt anyone in 6 months - meanwhile cyclists continue to actually mow down pedestrians on pavements....!!

our freedoms are being erroded just because they can't enjoy what we do

bikers unity....absolutely Big G:D

You're right Tomba. We should ALL be there.

I love this line you wrote.......it's perfect.

in france they've had a sudden increase in fatal accidents involving motorcycles - but who knows for sure - meanwhile the minister for the interior decide he'd hammer bikers generally to look good, knowing the french citizens would rebel anyway...that's the way of it in france and all goes back to normal over their...but meanwhile here we have the cycling zealots who think we stink and make up all sorts of reasone to have the public hate us....utter rubbish 99% of it of course..but cycling is very green and fashionable right now...roads are full!! - they seem to forget that if we all cycled they'd lose 50% of the national ruddy income....no fuel tax...no congetsion charge income....no parking income for there dear friends at NCP private carparks...means no free holidays and bungs for the goverment robbers

we need to remind them of the real world needs of ordinary folk working hard to enjoy a little freedom now and then

but the french have started something with EU politicians [lazy barstools] but they love the word harmonization...which means if one country does it they all will or must...much like here with the local area councils...our countries autonomy has been seriously eroded by the euro prats and our weak governments have let it happen - well they like to go on speechifying tours foe a few million squids as soon as they leave office for past favours met!!....grrr

meanwhile we are at the sharp end of their desires to look good and harmonize...now it's our turn to show that the french rebellions have nothing on angry brits going to war ......cheers terry :D

This is right down my alley.
1. I wanna see how the forum filter handles cussing lol, and
2. Here's some food for thought:

One 15-minute flash-barricade won't do what's needed. It will feed your ego and give you the ability to say 'I tried!' after the effort has failed. Then you will shrug and drive to the store to buy HiViz crap, bitch every once in awhile, and before you know it you've given your blessing to more control and less freedom. As far as the 15-minute gig is concerned, you have to be there and do your part. But don't stop there. And lobby the 15-minute organizers to go much further.

What's really needed is an easily-presented example of why cagers should wise up and be held accountable for their actions because science proves after awhile the HiViz will become effectively invisible to drivers. They won't see it. ****, they don't see turn signals and tail lights AND HEADLIGHTS. HiViz doesn't even show at night until illuminated! These clowns are ass holes.

Why are they doing this? $$$ is why.

EU wants Total Ass Control and they have a Political Agenda. Next Up: Screw-The-Bikers: require HiViz. Cha-ching rake in that money. Then things are good a few months but guaranteed a year later things are no better.

**** them. That does nothing to help your survivability on the road. Plus when you get killed on the road the politicians get to shrug their shoulders and say 'we did everything we could' when in fact they failed to make cagers financially responsible to the needed extent to cause them to pay attention. Why? NOBODY MADE THEM DO IT.

There's no EU effort in this direction. Somebody better start one or you are sunk. So you guys need to MAKE THEM DO IT.

BTW the way to battle the parts issue is that aftermarket parts are usually equal-or-better (such as exhaust and tires) simply because the 'factory' doesn't actually make most parts on the MC. Plus the OEM 'factory parts' have to come from vendors who have stopped making them in a procution line environment, thus the crazy prices. Crazy prices . . . more money and higher tax . . . hmmm . . . wonder if that is the agenda.

Think about this: A tire's OD has zero to do with anything except the speedo reading, and if the guy gets a speeding ticket that's his problem: pay up buddy. Plus there is no possible way to claim the OEM tire is the best and safest. So your government will be selling your safety by refusing to let you buy a better-than-oem tire (or what-ever part) in exchange for handing a captured market to corporations. You pay more money for less safety and less longevity. **** them. You guys need to get active against this stuff. Don't donate to any causes, they exist to make profit not solve the cause. Start a letter writing campaign asap, blanket the politicians with thousands of letters and emails and phone calls.

When 'they' tried to ram rules on us like you already have there, there were uprisings and letter campaigns and lobbying for personal safety, and reason prevailed only because the politicians were made uncomfortable with any other outcome. Governments need to stay out of our beds, homes, families, and bikes. Like I said: **** 'em.

Half the world is on edge and ready to riot. And they dare pull this crap?

Okay, lets see how the cussing-filters bleep this post . . .

that's the one really good example prof...the tyres on a bike.....excellent in fact...and you're so right....love the ****** 'stars' you made.,,,hahaha:D

more later for sure

I'm in...!

Marked on my calendar & I'll e-mail the MAG links to my riding buddies...

Interesting how on one hand, we are being encouraged to take responsibility for ourselves, our communities & our actions...i.e: "The Big Community", etc, yet on the other we're being told that we're not fit to make our own decisions about our bikes (& many other things in life) so we need "Nanny State" legislation!

#14 ·
All being well - I'm planning to go to the Belfast starting point. (120 miles from here).

Heck - If the UK accepts this crap - there'll be no argument here either....
(The yellow vest shite has already been announced)
.... it'll be all of 15 mins before WE'RE having this Euro BS forced on us too!

It's coming - so we need to act NOW.

#22 ·
Haha, Heff, they'll be getting shown more than me dangly bits if these absurd laws get passed :mad::mad:......FREEEEEEEEEEEDOM :D:D:D:D

#27 ·
Looking good so far guys.

I think the truckers have been banned from demos Frec, I'll ask Warriorblue.

Gav.

#28 · (Edited)
if a truck or 2 or 3 get stuck behind us bikers doing 45mph then who's to say whether they are with us or just stuck behind us!!?? [big wink]:D

our clan is meeting up at clackets services m25 to go play with the dartford crossing maybe....that should be fun...

i enjoyed dropping coins the last time we played their!! [when they made us pay] - all you have to do now is go to coins only barrier, and stop nothing happens - as it's free they make us go to the attendant points to get thru...but hey a mistake or 2 will do a good turn:rolleyes:

I'll be doing this demo, either on the M1 or A1 - Oh, I'm the poster formerly known as FearlessFreak BTW, my profile seems to be locked, or hacked? I got old messages in there I never saw b4, (so sorry if I never replied or looked like I was ignoring people) can't post or change that profile so started this new one :)

It's worth putting some perspective on the mass protest being called for by the Motorcycle Action Group on September 25th

The idae is to mobilise motorcyclists around the country, suggesting they gather at motorway service staions. Then at 1pm ride at 45mph in the inside lane. before dispersing 20 minutes later

Ash reminds you not to stray to close to the middle lane at that speed...no silly accidents please

Then goes on...

If you've been looking at the list of reasons on MAG's website to get out their and protest, a little background might be helpful..

It's agreed there is no evidence reflective clothing helps stop accidents and it's only france and ireland looking to force this on bikers. The UK goverment isn't doing so and has no intentions of doing so..

of course there are issues that threaten us of course including compulsory ABS, tighter emissions regs... tighter control of after market parts and most ominously, anti tampering rules, which in theory could mean an end of customisation...but the uk government are strongly against the anti tampering regs...

Actually the uk goverment is being ok at present with their intentions and MP's on bikes are joining us...why?

because the threat to us is, these isues are EU driven, so despite our government being against them, our real 'masters' [spit] in Brussels might well impose them anyway!!

So we are protesting in truth against EU interfernece ...and that is our message

Our peaceful and lawful protest is against over-regulation and if you get the chance to tell the press anything that is our meassage...be specific it's the EU interference that we are against

It was really well put by Steve baker [MP] who rides and will with us on sunday

THE EU MUST BE STOPPED FROM TURNING EUROPE INTO A GRAVEYARD FOR THE HUMAN SPIRIT

Our protest is to influence an October 17th vote by MEP's on the EU proposals:D

While fighting the big bad monster don't forget there are also little monsters hiding in plain veiw. You won't notice them because you're busy fighting the big one. But the monsters that appear small are still monsters. Don't accept the offerings of even a smaller monster while fighting a bigger monster.

Big Monster: Brussels and EU, let them eat cake!
Small Momster: UK regulations that achieve nothing. Wake up!

Just sayin' don't sell-out on anything. Fight the good fight, big and small.

If someone asked me and I was involved, I'd cite brief but specific EU and UK motorcycle issues, and I'd use those specifics as a jumping-off point to say 'and that's just the MC specific stuff, we can't have all that other stuff either . . .' and nod and smile. And I would be searching-out people to inform.

Is anyone having a sign on the back of the tailgunner MC in your line saying 'leave motorcyclists alone' and 'f the eu' or anything, or is that a bad idea there?

#36 ·
Keeping this separate:
Who has written a list of ten UK MC laws that should go away because they achieve nothing?
Who has written a list of ten EU proposed or enacted MC laws that should go away because its none of their business?

#37 ·
TEN!!?....errr....i'll have to think on that...but ya right the lists should be out their...we only have a short time to get this understood by the MEP's

funny i was thinking 'ten' when i went to sign in and tried signing in my name as TEN...doh!!...

I'm personally always on the look out for the small seemingly insignificant rule change or obscure [small] wording in the back of a white paper that will dent my freedoms...

life's too short and precious to allow any a^rshole to dictate terms - especially one that i've never voted for and who's face i've never seen...and can i even understand a word he might be saying!!?...

the EU boneheads needs to back off our turf:cool:

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY ATTENDING THIS WEEKEND'S DEMO.

I'll be doing my bit here in Ireland.
Looks like being a good turnout.
There are two days of demo's here.

Remember - if you say nothing now, you won't be ABLE to say anything later.... when it's all too late.

I'll watch out for ya on TV!
