well, this is something i have been meaning to do for a while now, and with trying to clean the bike up for biketoberfest i decided to tackle it with john (my buddy who just bought a warrior)
this is a simple and next to free mod, for a few dollars and a few hours you could probably do this your self, if you have any questions feel free to ask
this is what my bike looks like now [/emoticons/emotion-6.gif] (more on that later)
looks like im gonna have to do some fiber glass work... which means mine isnt getting finished today [/emoticons/emotion-6.gif!]
bracket/holder i fabricated, more on that in a min
another image, showing the slight bend in it (whats that down below?)
where i got the material for it, yes thats a baking pan (thanks mom!!! [/emoticons/emotion-5.gif]), notice i kept part of the edge/bend, makes it stronger
reuse of the original rectifier holder, remember cheap mods
another view
how the recitifier looks mounted up close
How the Bracket fits in the cowl, note the cut out so the oil filter fits, no problem, you would swear i thought this through
Bracket simply sandwhichs between the lower cowl and the bracket to hold it on the bottom
although not my bike, you get the idea on johns bike, rat bastards cowl was in one piece [/emoticons/emotion-5.gif]
little further back, were going to cover the hole in the cowl with mesh that matches the speed star scoops, should really dress it up
Heres some with the new screen
Heres one from a little further back with the Screen
johns bike all clean and good to go...
my bike all clean and ready to go...
notes:
1. yes my bike is very dirty, i have been busy modding it, it scheduled for a bath and detailing wed..
2. the baking pan was one of the heavy duty ones, and is fairly strong especially since i kept the edge, and even added that additional bend... they will be painted to protect against the elements
3. the horn is being relocated behind the cowl as well, i will post updated pics, once my glass work is completed, and i mount my horn...
4. i positioned it to still get good air flow, fairly close to the opening, and with the mesh screen in place that i have planed, you will probably never see it!!!!
