Has anyone ever seen a strut to replace the shock, I need it for the beach to keep the low look and ride a passenger.

Welcome to the forum dude :) There are several options to lower the bike. You can get lowering links (dogbones) which replace the stock ones for a permanent lowered look. I think this one is about 3 1/2 inches. You can get a lowering link (which is the link which connects the shock to the body) which lowers the bike about 1 1/2 inches. You can get adjustable lowering links (which replace the dogbones) which can give you anywhere in between, and allow you to raise it when you ride 2 up. You can do the "flip and grind" (or FnG) -search the popular mods database in my signature. Or you can get a tricky air set up. Good luck on your mods. Tell us about your bike :)

Get tricky air, pump it up when passenger is on bike, drop it down when you stop to ride said passenger:D

Ive wanted one of these before because my bike handles rough with the set up I'm running and figured if I can't ride the twisties I might as well make is a getto hard tail. Unluckily I havent ever been able to find one either. Seems you could do one pretty easy with some steel bars and a welder...neither of which I have. Good luck and let us know if you find anything

Jim, may I ask exactly what specs you bought from Pingel, and if it mounts frame-to-relay-arm or frame-to-swing-arm? Also, is the length set-up to maintain stock height, or some amount of lowered ride height? Thanks!

I ordered stock shock length because I have the PCS lowering struts. They will make an adjustible strut so you can retain the stock arms. See here Pingel Custom Struts, Motorcycle Struts

I also found a billet aluminum adjustible strut a while back when I first considered this but it was kind of pricey and you don't really see it anyway. Think it was from BMS or G&S, I can remember now.

I looked at removing the link, arms and everything and running just a strut, but the link mount to the swing arm is below the frame and it's not a straight shot. I suppose it could be accomplished with sone sort of offset or dogleg strut. I just retained the stock link, I think it's structurely stronger that way. I should be getting the strut on monday I could post a picture and demensions if anyone is interested.

Got my strut from Pingel monday. Nice piece, chrome moly, nice welds and craftmanship and adjustible. Here are the measurements I used to order my custom monostrut, from the pingel order form. A= 11 1/8" B= .710" C=1.525" D=.470"
E= 1.175" F=.800".

These measurements worked perfect for me with the stock link arms. If you have lowering link arms like the PCS arms you might want to make the custom strut length the same as a stock shock, which is 12.25" (A).

The strut is adjustible approx. 7/8" (leaving 1/2" of the adjusting bolt engaged.)

I ended up with my swing arm about parallel ( not sure of the drop from stock, approx. 2" I think)
Here's a picture of the stock shock, stock link arms, PCS lowering arms and the monostrut.

I'll do another post of it installed.
