So as QLD is hosting this, the time has come to start researching venues. So far we have several options on the table and some rides to each over the next few months would be good to get a venue cemented.

1. Bigriggen Campground. Between Boonah and Rathdownie. Has a Bunk house sleeping either 20 people in one dorm or 4 bunk rooms sleeping four in each.

2. Aritula Hotel at the bottom of Cunninghams Gap. Basic accom but good food, cheap piss and central.

3. Cunnungra Hotel, Still have to check this out.

4. Imbil Deer farm, Cabins sleeping four in each and cooking facilities

5. Wondai Hotel, Spokes knows about this and can make comment as have not been there.

6. Shane Webkies pub in Leigburn, maybe to far out.

7. Beared Dragon Hotel, nice and central to the Tambourine mountains and Numinbah valley.

there is always the option to camp at imbil as well of course, and the pub at Leyburne is nice and not too bad to get to, but very basic as far as camping is concerned, as its not a camp site just a field over the road so no loos or showers or anything of that nature:)

The Cecil Hotel at Wondai is up near the Bunya Mountains and has a great ride just to get there.
It has basic accomodation with shared facilities above the hotel itself and has catered to Bike groups before. The main bar is out the front and is quite samll but there is a big games room type area out the back that is usually deserted when we have been there. It has a pool table, duke box and dart board which would be pretty much exclusively ours.
The bikes would be locked up in a fenced area behind the pub where the owners used to have a blue healer watching over them.
It has been a few years since I have been out there so we'd have to have a ride and check it out again.
Sounds like an excuse for an overnighter hey? Who's up for it?

Cancelled due to weather.

This next weekend is out for me too as I have to lead a Kobbers ride, which (if anyone is interested in coming along) is going out over the range to the Meringindan Pub for lunch where they have HUGE steaks and big @ss bangers).

So... how's the weekend of the 28th/29th Jan looking?

Anyone up for it?

Count me in. Hendo Dutch and I were keen this weekend but someone wouldn't answer their phone.:D

Didn't you leave a message saying that we wouldn't go if was raining?

Don't know if you looked west towards the mountains yesterday but there appeared to be a lot of heavy rain in that direction and the only way to get to where we're going is over that range.

But yeah, OK. I should've rang. Got drunk and forgot - again.

Myself and Heff went for a ride on Sunday to check out the place I suggested Goomburra Valley Camping Grounds, nice place, though the owners were very adamant about the 10pm no noise policy, there was only the one sleeping area (not good for non-snorers) and a good 30km to the Highway. This just isn't going to cut it. On leaving they suggested we check out this other place on the way home, Ron's Horse Riding, right on the Cunningham Highway just over Cunninghams Gap coming from the coast.

This place had two different accommodation areas, a old Queenslander that slept 8 singles, more if two are willing to sleep in doubles, and a converted dairy that slept 6 singles, both areas had heaps of room for swags/mattress as required. All linen is provided (sheets and towels).

Just down the road is the Maryvale Historical Crown Hotel for dinners and pi$$. They apparently have a bus service that we can exploit. There's two fire pits, a B.B.Q for breakfast, a creek yet to be seen as to how much water is present, fridges and eskies.

Heff might think of a few things that I've missed, but definatly worth a second look with a few more of the QLD riders. They do have a website with a few photos. This one so far looks pretty good.

Ok checked out Thunderbird park and not acceptable as real family orientated and no load noise. Found two others today and checked them both out.

1. Lake Maroon Holiday park, big camping and caravan area but has two Queenslanders that each house 25 people up on a hill looking over the dam. Fire pits, pillows and blankets, self contained kitchen plus built in BBQ.
cost is $200/night for first five plus 30 per head for rest. Equates to $32.50/night based on twenty people. And we can make as much noise as we like. Website is Maroon, Lake, Park, Holiday, Cabins | Lake Maroon Holiday Park | Lake Maroon Holiday Park

2. Camp lake fire 1 km further down the road, right on the lake with 4 cabins. Two housing 8 people and Two housing 7 due to one bed being a double in each of these units. Fire pits, Free kitchen and lounge dinning hall if we book all 4 cabins ( min 4 people in each so that is ok) and he has Hire canoes, boats with electric motors and bait. Cost $27/night and we can make as much noise as we like. Website Camp Lake Fire - Camping and Fishing at Maroon Dam Queensland - Home

Each of these would be perfect but if people want the fishing and boating then option 2. Let me know your thoughts as will have to book soon. Rathdownie pub is 20km away.

Heff, It looks like you have done some good work in checking out these places.
I think that you should just pick which ever one you think is the best for us all and run with it.
There is no way in **** that you are going to be able to please everyone so you're probably better off not leaving it up to a group consensus.
Look how long it took just to pick a date????

Some words are caught by the automatic filter. Some are caught by moderators where we try to take it in context. We're all adults here lol. The more a particular word is used in negative context the more likely it might be added to the filter at some point. It seems better to leave it to moderators but 'it is what it is' hehe.

Ok guys the Accommodation is now booked and we now need to look for dollars to pay for it. As per last year we asked for the money up front so that we can get everything paid for and get the shopping done through out the year. Last year we paid $125/head and our accommodation was 22.50/head/night. All food and booze included. This year the Accommodation is $32.50/night so may need to bump it up a bit due to the Victorian's drinking problem. How about $140 each and that should cover everything. What money is left over will be passed to the next state hosting WWW2013. Dutch will be starting a Bank account this week and will post the details. With the interest this year we should get somewhere between 20-25 warriors. The house booked is the lake view Maroon, Lake, Park, Holiday, Cabins | Lake Maroon Holiday Park | Lake Maroon Holiday Park
